I am post op and currently trying to detransition , my reasons are social I
love the my body now , but getting a girlfriend or a job are things I had no problem prior to transition , but I my own experiences tell me that neither am I likely to get a Job or a girlfriend , so for me it’s a reluctant detransition but I am fairly young and I don’t want to be jobless and single for the next 50-60 year’s , living in poverty isn’t fun.

Anyway sorry if that was a little too much like a rant , but I do agree with the article , people detransition mainly because of social issues.

Thanks for this, very informative and I find it very helpful for my own arguments when I try to discuss with work colleagues who are terribly stuck in the binary gender contrsuct.

Excellent article Loz. This “documentary” sounds pretty disgusting and exploitative tbh. Also worth saying that people should be allowed to detransition if they feel that is best for them, without them having to worry that they will be used as justification for transphobia or denial of medical treatment. The term “regret” is very loaded and so often used to describe detransition, yet it is clearly possible for someone to want to revert to an older gender expression whilst still seeing their original transition as a positive experience.
